We are a completely independent project from Fedora, and there are no Fedora developers or parties directly involved. A Fedora Spin is an official Fedora released version of a desktop environment (such as gnome/kde). It should be clarified that this distribution is -NOT- to be considered a ‘Fedora Spin’. It’s not that the terminal and/or terminal usage are a bad thing by any means, power users are more than welcome to continue with using the terminal, but for new users, point and click ease of use is usually expected. More importantly, we want to be more point and click friendly, and avoid the basic user from having to open the terminal. This project aims to fix most of those issues and offer a better gaming, streaming, and content creation experience out of the box. Some of the important things that are missing from Fedora, especially with regards to gaming include WINE dependencies, obs-studio, 3rd party codec packages such as those for gstreamer, 3rd party drivers such as NVIDIA drivers, and even small package fixes here and there. A typical point and click user can often struggle with how to get a lot of things working beyond the basic browser and office documents that come with the OS without having to take extra time to search documentation. Fedora is a very good workstation OS, however, anything involving any kind of 3rd party or proprietary packages is usually absent from a fresh install. Then install these few programs below in the quote box in blue, which are perfectly safe for any edition of Linux mint. The Nobara Project, to put it simply, is a modified version of Fedora Linux with user-friendly fixes added to it. If you are not using KDE, or just want to be able to run some very high quality KDE applications, All "file-roller" versionsįile Roller - File Roller 3.10.0 - Released on September 23, 2013 Perhaps there is a newer version available.Ġ1-26-2016 05:50pm US eastern: I just installed version 3.12.2 from the link below and they have fixed this issue.įile Roller 3.12.2-1ubuntu1~utopic3 - at bottom are 32bit and 64bit easy install ".deb" files. There are plug-ins for integrating this into some file managers as well in the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM). And, I do not like the small "add files" window either, or the fact that I cannot even resize that window. "File Roller (Archive Manager)" is great for viewing (opening) archives, and searching for files within large archive files, but I don't usually use it for creating Archive files (archiving files). PeaZip for Linux 5.9.1 - use the "GTK" for Cinnamon, Mate, Xfce, use the "QT" for KDE. which work really well and are integrated into your file managers as well, thus making (creating) archive files super easy to do. There are other archiving programs, like "Ark" (usually the default Archive program), "PeaZip", etc. But, I was still able to create an archive. I do have a small window showing 2 lines, rather than one like your image shows. I just checked my Archive Manager (File Roller v3.6.3) in Linux Mint KDE 17.3, and it also has the unchangeable file and folder selection boxes when "adding files" when creating an Archive. Please run the console terminal commands "inxi -Fxzd", highlight the results and copy & paste them back here. It would help to have more information on your system's setup. ![]()
